As you will know i’m a former pupil of Leicester’s Western Park Open Air School which sadly closed in 2005 but is officially the only still standing Open Air School in the United Kingdom. When the school closed i became the official historian of the school for Former Pupils & Staff my mission is to find and document the complete history of this school, the lives and memories of former pupils and staff as well as the ability to document a digital achieve of all activities that took place over the schools 75 year history.
If you or any member of your family past or present attended this school then i would love to hear from you, i would like to document all you remember good or bad as well as digitizes any photos you may have.
My work is a important part of lives and memories of those who lived in Leicestershire between 1930 when it opened and 2005 when the school closed. Since 2005 until present day the school site has been left abandoned and vandalised with numorious arson attacks and a unofficial drug den the school site has finally been purchased by members of the local community and after some emergency restoration will become a integeral part of the community once again in the future.
As a Grade II listed property the whole site is protected by Heritage England and when restored will resemble its former glory.
